Privacy policy
What we collect, and what we deliberately do not
Fikrio is made for children aged 9 to 12, so this policy is written to be read by a parent in full, not skimmed. Last updated 14 August 2026.
Fikrio is in development and is not yet publicly released. This policy describes the product as it is built today. When something changes materially, we will update this page and tell the families on our list.
Who we are
Fikrio is made by Aldaim Digital Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17327688), based in Oxford, United Kingdom. We are the data controller. For anything in this policy, write to support@aldaim-digital.co.uk.
The short version
- The parent holds the account. Children do not have their own login, email address or password.
- We do not store your child's conversations. There is no column in our database for message text.
- We never show advertising to children and we do not sell or share data for advertising.
- To answer a question, the message is sent to an AI provider for processing. This is the one place your child's words leave our systems, and it is explained in full below.
What we collect
From the parent
- Email address, to create the account, verify it, and send account emails.
- A parent PIN, stored only as a cryptographic hash, never the PIN itself.
- Session records, so you can stay signed in and we can sign you out everywhere if you ask.
- Consent records, so we can show what was agreed and when.
- Anything you write to us, if you send feedback or contact support.
About the child
The parent creates the child's profile, and it holds only what the product needs to pitch answers correctly:
- A display name you choose. A first name or a nickname both work, and a nickname is a perfectly good choice.
- Age band, school year, and curriculum, so explanations match the child's level.
- Preferred language and dialect.
- Accessibility preferences.
- The settings you choose: daily message limits, quiet hours, and which learning modes are allowed.
What has no place in our database at all: your child's legal name, school name, home address, phone number, email address, contacts, or location. These are not fields we leave empty. There is no column for them, so they cannot be collected by accident.
From using the app
- Counts, not content. How many messages were sent on a given day, which learning mode was used, and the outcome. This is what makes a progress summary possible without storing what was said.
- Safety decisions. When a safety rule acts, we record the category, severity and which rule fired. The child's words are not stored with it.
- Operational cost data, so we can run the service sustainably.
What we do not store
The conversation itself. Messages between your child and Fikrio are not written to our database. This is a structural decision rather than a promise about our behaviour: the tables that produce progress summaries have no message-content column, so a summary cannot leak what was never stored, and neither can we.
This also means we cannot show you a transcript of your child's conversations, and we will not build one. Children learn best when they feel encouraged rather than watched. Parents get visibility of the learning, not surveillance of the child.
Who else processes your data
We keep this list short on purpose, and we will update it when it changes.
- The AI provider (OpenRouter, and the model provider it routes to). To answer a question, the message and the profile context needed to pitch the answer are sent to an AI model for processing. We do not send your account email or any identifying detail with it. This is the one point at which your child's words leave our systems, and the provider's own retention and privacy terms apply to that processing.
- Our email provider, to deliver account and verification emails. It receives the email address only.
- Our hosting and infrastructure providers, which store the data described above on our behalf under contract.
We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles. There is no advertising in Fikrio.
Where data is held, and for how long
Data is held on servers operated by our infrastructure providers. We keep account data for as long as you have an account. Usage counts and learning events are kept so progress summaries stay meaningful over time. When you close your account we delete your family's data, other than anything we must keep to meet a legal obligation.
Children's privacy
Fikrio is designed for children aged 9 to 12 and is bought and set up by a parent or guardian. The parent creates the child's profile and provides consent for the child's use. We do not knowingly let a child create an account for themselves, and we do not ask children for personal information.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without a parent's involvement, write to us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent. A parent may exercise these rights on their child's behalf.
How to use them today: From the Parent Hub in the app, you can export a copy of your family's data and delete an individual child's profile at any time. You can also delete your entire account there — see our account deletion page for exactly what that removes. If you would rather not use the app, or no longer have it installed, email support@aldaim-digital.co.uk for any of these requests, including correcting your data or objecting to how we use it, and we will action it within 30 days.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Security
Passwords and PINs are stored as hashes, never in readable form. Sessions can be revoked. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise; if a breach affects you, we will tell you.
Changes
When this policy changes we will update the date at the top and, for anything material, contact the families on our list rather than relying on you to re-read the page.
